Once upon a time, there lived a King who, despite his luxurious lifestyle, was neither happy nor content. One day, the King came upon a servant who was singing happily while he worked. This fascinated the King. Why was he, the Supreme Ruler of the Land, unhappy and gloomy, while a lowly servant had so much joy?
The King asked the servant, "Why are you so happy"?
The man replied, "Your Majesty, I am nothing but a servant, but my family and I don't need too much; just a roof over our heads and warm food to fill our tummies."
The king was not satisfied with that reply. Later in the day, he sought the advice of his most trusted advisor. After hearing the King's woes and the servant's story, the advisor said, "Your Majesty, I believe that the servant has not been made part of The

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

Turn the Light On
Submitted by Michelle Eggenberger on Mon, 2006-11-06 11:39. Creative Writing“Turn the light on,” I said. “What are we looking for?” she replied. “Truth” I answered. As she turned the flashlight on I could see her hand trembling. The path lighted wasn’t a pretty sight, shadows awaited in every corner and roots seemed to cover the whole way. Slowly and with much care we made our way through. Eyes piercing in the dark and quiet whispers like never ending echoes could be heard. I could hear her heart as we walked and wondered how come I couldn’t hear mine.
As we walked further down the voices became clearer: ”Here come here, this is the way to go”. I could sense she wanted to follow the voice. “It feels safe,” she said. “They have been here longer, so they probably know the way”.
Finding Friends

Stretching ones arm to grasp at potential scores the arms
only though to hold, even but once, the reward numbs all
