Faith leads to hope, trust brings happiness.
When you have faith and know God runs the world you have hope. When you trust that all that you do is known by God and that every good deed will be payed in the world to come, you can already enjoy it now knowing it's "in the bank".
World to Come

It is the idea of a life after death and in particular that being the time of future reward for deeds in our lifetime(s). I believe that if you take away the concept of an after life of reward, something found in every spiritual system / religion I know of, you end up flat with out much hope and happiness.
Clarification
I am not familiar with this concept of the "world to come". Is that the same thing as an afterlife or eternality? If so, how does a person develop the hope you speak about without the belief that we will have, at least some conscious form of existence after we die?
